Very interesting. I need to buy a Reignmaker card with my winnings from today; Detry does not inspire confidence. Henley, Noren, Hoge, Burns or Mitchell are in my price range. Any jump out at you as better than the rest? I already have Aberg, Cam Young, Willy Z, Harman, Connors, among others. Leaning Henley. Thoughts?
I would prefer Burns if cost is the same. Different types of game but…I think Burns has more upside, particularly because he drives the ball further and putts better. And while that leads to inconsistency in finish, it provides more winning upside.
Great article, as always. Any course comps that we can use? Going to run a model emphasizing length OTT and SG:BS; how much do you think putting will play a factor? Do we know anything about these greens?
Greens are bentgrass, such as Augusta National. I'm not sure how undulating they are, I did not go back and watch 2014 video (although tempted so I could relive a Rory victory). It Always plays a factor the week of...could more so this week if they're receptive. Easier the course plays, the more putts will have to be made to keep pace unless your Scheffler stuffing everything to 12 feet.
I think comp wise, Quail Hollow...oddly enough since they just are coming from there...long course, sets up well for those who are driving the ball well...and there are birdies to be made for those striking, but it will be a tough test for those who are not. Wouldn't shock me to see a -16 winner at Valhalla but the guy in 10th is -2, similar to this week.
